A Restaurant in Japan

Years ago, before Dual-Stack Studio existed, I photographed the restaurant of a mountain lodge in Japan — the craft, the plating and the ingredients, up close. It's the kind of storytelling we now do for small places everywhere.

The restaurant

What came out of the kitchen

Shot the same way we'd shoot it today — the craft, the plating, the ingredients, up close, and a look behind the scenes.

A hand arranging a plate of sashimi and abalone
Abalone served in its shell over shredded daikon
A fresh salad plated with sake bottles in the background
Chopsticks lifting noodles over a strainer, beside a fresh salad
A chef preparing shellfish at a table set for service

Have a place worth telling a story about?

This is exactly the kind of work we do for farms, guesthouses and small local businesses today.
